Current iPad range. ***?!

It's a bit of a mess! I'm still on an iPad Air 1 / iPad 5 (I think that's correct. It's been a confusing mess for a while now). I'm looking to upgrade. But from the myriad of iPad's now available somehow I seem LESS likely to actually buy a new one! I'd maybe be convinced to buy a new iPad Air ...... if it had supported Pencil 2. The new iPad Mini 5 looks very nice as well. But pricey for an over specified Mini that is still lacking some important features to make it stand out. Did the new Air / Mini really need an A12 processor but NOT a re-design & Pencil 2 support?! Anyway, my best option to upgrade currently feels like a 2nd hand 2017 iPad Pro or just wait until next year to see what happens ...........

That's not the purpose of this forum. Personally, I think the iPad lineup is super. I love my iPad Pro 11. But this is a forum for users to ask other users for technical support. This isn't an opinion forum. By the title of your thread, you don't think the current range is super. But you still haven't asked a valid question anyone could possibly help you with. Plus you seem to have come to a conclusion as to which iPad you may want. That's great if that's what you think best meets your needs. If you thought people would engage in thought to sway your opinion, again, not the purpose of this forum.

This all falls in the "speculation" category which is not allowed in these forums.

However, I doubt we'll see entry level iPads receive the high end form factor treatment of Pro level iPads.

Also, if you want support for Apple Pencil 2, get one of the iPads that support it. The cheaper entry level alternatives obviously have to make some concessions which include the peripheral support department.

Also its very unlikely Apple would offer 2 different iPad Minis.
