Call failed only when Wi-Fi is turned on

I reset all of my network and settings and it stopped doing it for a week or so but it has happened again.

Basically , if the Wi-Fi is turned on and I get a call it says “call failed” after like 5 - 10 seconds. It happens if I call and/or if someone calls me. I turn the Wi-Fi off and it’s fine but that is only A temporary solution.

Good afternoon Davidjr2011,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you are having issues making Wi-Fi calls from your iPhone. If you have not done so already, please update your iPhone to iOS 12.2. Check to see if there are any carrier updates, and if Wi-Fi Calling is set up with your carrier. I've highlighted some key information here for you. Click on the links for complete details.

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Update your carrier settings on your iPhone or iPad

Make a call with Wi-Fi Calling

"If you can't turn on or use Wi-Fi Calling, make sure that your carrier offers Wi-Fi Calling and that your devices have the latest software. Then, follow these steps if you can't turn on Wi-Fi Calling or make a Wi-Fi call. Wait two minutes before you go from one step to the next.

  1. Go to Settings > Phone > Wi-Fi Calling and make sure that Wi-Fi Calling is on.
  2. Restart your iPhone.
  3. Connect to a different Wi-Fi network. Not all Wi-Fi networks work with Wi-Fi Calling.
  4. Turn Wi-Fi Calling off and then on again.
  5. Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset Network Settings."

Take care.
