Time machine no longer recognizes the WD my book studio
Since the latest download "improvement" to OS High Sierra 10.13.6 time machine no longer recognizes the WD MY book studio when it is connected to the desktop. (iMac)

Not a good sign, I lost 2 WD 2 TB USB3 drives within a month of being new, I think it was the cheap interface chipset they used. I love their 3.5" drives, especially the Blacks, but will never buy one in a WD case again.

Thank you!!! Just wanted someone to agree with me before I plunk $$$ for a new one. I've tried every recommendation on the WD support until I was going in circles! Pretty certain you have the correct answer!
Yeah, I didn't even bother to have my 2 replaced under Warranty, why would I want something so untrustworthy, even for free?

Does it Show in System Report>Hardware>USB?
No. But when it is plugged into the Lightning bolt (Thunderbolt) the connection shows the port is in use...but does not identify the WD drive
