Lightning port replacement

So essentially you're saying that APPLE can't service its own product and will get me a functional phone for well over $300, but the guy using salvaged parts is the dishonest one?

The charging port on my Iphone 6Splus was recently damaged. I took it to the Apple store for repair and was advised they don't replace charging ports but they would replace the phone for $329 (or thereabout). I walked out and found and iPhone kiosk in the mall, right outside the APPLE store that replaced the port for $40. It is poor customer service that Apple doesn't offer repair on its product for such a common issue. Rethinking the brand of my next phone.

Did the guy using salvaged parts inform you up front that they were salvaged? Did they warn you that by having them work on it, you would forfeit all rights to support and service on that device from Apple?

If not, then yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

The only source for genuine parts you "local service guy" has are stolen parts or parts salvaged from other (presumably failed/damaged) iPhones. Apple does not sell iPhone parts.
