Turned on my iPhone this morning to listen to music, and found that about 50% of the songs in my iTunes library were greyed out with no artwork. I got the error message, "This song is not currently available in your country or region" when I tried to play any of them. No particular pattern, no obvious reason, and many were on music that I burned from my own CDs many years ago.

I get the same message after re-booting the phone, going into airplane mode and everything else I could think of. Any ideas?

Hook your phone back up to the computer that you run iTunes off of and re-sync. Mine had recently been synched properly, and my computer didn't recognize my phone at all. Obviously something buggy in the new 12.2 update, which I didn't even realize had been run on my phone yet (I don't do auto updates for anything). Once the phone has been essentially rebuilt from your archive, everything works fine for all of your music.

I was having hundreds of these warnings after upgrading to a new iPhone and syncing with my PC for music. I tried a number of things recommended above, but nothing worked. What ended up fixing everything for me was using an actual/official Apple cable to sync my iPhone with my computer and then everything synced beautifully (and faster). I had been using some off brand. I hope this helps some of you. I was so frustrated this past week.

I’ve had this happen quite a few times where the music just stops working and gives that **** message. I’ve had these tracks for a while and every now and then this happens. Usually when I resync my phone with my computer it fixes it. I have no idea why it happens but I haven’t touched anything. Probably some kind of bug in apples software or something.

After banging my head trouble shooting, I toggled in settings ICloud Music Library which took all my songs off, turned back on and Sync’d, this caused phone to download all songs back on phone, finally disconnected my phone from laptop and used Sync by WiFi option in ITunes, reset warnings, click Sync and SHAZAM, gained access to the Greys. Not sure will work for you. Took a little, finally did for me.

I fixed this problem. The problem began after running the latest update. I keep having this problem re-occur repeatedly for a while now after updates or other changes. Leaving the country, restores, backups, updates, sometimes it just hoses without any noticeable changes.

I have about 7 Apple devices. I suspect perhaps the issue is one of the devices is bumping my main iPhone off once in a while when another phone signs in or my computer's iTunes is getting Deauthorized inside iTunes on my Windows PC.

I fixed this problem several ways in the past. This time I simply reauthorized my computer in iTunes on my PC. My newest iPhone was plugged in at the time and iTunes immediately starting to sync more songs to it super fast, appearing to simply "enable" rather than copy files over. Within a few seconds i hit the play button on my iPhone and one of MANY songs started to play. These are songs that are from all over the place from years prior to iTunes even existing. I have ripped music from my CDs, purchased songs from iTunes, music from the Internet, it doesn't matter. Hopefully Apple for all their billions in worth, can create a simple log file to audit the problem on our devices and fix the issue.

If we know what the problem is, there's a good chance we can fix it ourselves and not wait 6 years for Apple to figure it out.

One other note, about 6 days ago my son needed to restore a backup from his iPhone with an older app and needed the Apple ID to get the app redownloaded. Him signing in to get his app redownloaded my have hosed it this time. I was recently in Asia about a month ago as well but no music problems until about a day ago, most likely from the failed update i tried to run earlier in the morning.
