the network connection was reset

I have been having problems with itunes. I get the message "the network connection was reset" I try click on the itunes little house icon several times, still get the error message. So, after a few days of having problems and searching this forum, I decided to trouble shoot it. On my macbook pro, I open itunes, no problem. Then, I plug in my iphone 4 and open itunes- get the error message. unplug my iphone and open itunes-no problem. Plug my iphone 4 back in and open itunes and get the error message.

So at least for me, the problem presents it's self when my iphone 4 is connected.

I'd been having the same problems, not only with downloading App updates but with my own podcast. The MacCast podcast turned me on to possible cookie problems within WebKit so I followed Adam's suggestion of Empty Cache in Safari and deleting all Apple cookies, then quitting Safari.

So far it's solved the issue, I was able to download 7 updates and my own podcast, which I've not been able to do for several weeks.

"Changing the DNS-Server solved my problem ... My ISP is Alice too"

Me too. I don't know how many of you may be Time-Warner Roadrunner customers, but obviously that's not the only ISP affected by this issue. I was able to completely eliminate this problem by changing my DNS servers from theirs to Google's free ones. As soon as I did that, the problem COMPLETELY disappeared. I can't say why, it just did.

Hi - been having this "internet connection was reset" problem for months now. Especially downloading apps for my ipad. I've been harassing Apple Support virtually daily about it and finally, finally got some information that seems to have fixed the issue for me. I had Genius turned OFF in iTunes. Was instructed to turn it on and then off again. Turned it on and problem went away. It's been about a week with no issues for me. Never did turn it OFF again for fear of the issue coming back. Might help some of you too. Good luck.
