No Signal on external Monitor

Hello together,

I got myself an ASUS PA329Q and an alogic usb c to hdmi (4k @60hz) cable, and when I connect it to my 2017 MacBook Pro the monitor comes out of standby but turns blue with a no signal label, then goes back to standby and awakes again, drops back to standby and so on. My Mac recognises the monitor, it appears as a second monitor under "about this Mac" at the displays tab and in the system report.

connecting to my tv works fine.

running bootcamp and connecting to the monitor via an EGPU works fine as well. trying it without the EGPU gives me the same results as the attempt getting it working on the Mac tho

any help is highly appreciated!
