I have a new 2018 MacBook Pro. I can not get the IPhoto library to close. Thus, I can’t shut the computer down without force quitting the program. This was never a problem on our 2011 MacBook Pro. Help?

Force quit Photos, launch it with the Option key held down and create a new library. Import a couple of image files into it and close and open a few times.
Now go back to your original library, open it and see if it will close down as it should.
