I am running an iPhone Xs Max which was updated to 12.2 at the weekend and since then Apple Pay does not work and the option to turn double click on is greyed out. I have tried restarting the phone, deleting the card and also setting up a completely new card as well all with no joy.
Any other idea's?

Try going to settings>general>reset>and reset all settings. (this does not delete data)
Are you in an area where Apple Pay is authorized? Where was the phone bought? Do you have any accessibility shortcuts enabled?
Have you force restarted the device?

Apple pay was working fine since Nov '18 when I purchased the iPhone then stopped working last week and now the double click option in wallet is greyed and will not let me turn it on.
Phone did upgrade to 12.2 in the time period it stopped working.
Just tried this thank you but no joy the double-click side button option is still greyed out.
