Does anyone use an iPad mini 4 as their ereader?

I have used Kobo ereaders for about six years and have become increasingly dissatisfied with them. I wondered if anyone used their iPad mini as their main ereader. If so, how happy are you with it? And how is the screen on your eyes? Does the brightness cause any eye strain, or other problems? (I must admit, I LOVE a really bright screen when reading because my eyesight is quite poor). Overall, is it a good experience in the long term?

I used to read a lot - 4/5 books per week, but I have found that the last year or so I am reading much less and I suddenly realised that it may well be the actual Kobo ereader that is causing this. I have read good things about using AppleBooks with the upgrades from iBooks, but I wonder how it feels with lengthy use. At the moment, I really only use AppleBooks as a more efficient substitute for Adobe Digital Editions.

Thanks

Thanks for that. I may have to look at the new model, and think about saving my pennies. I have been lusting after an Apple Watch, but that can wait.

Yes, I used to read a lot, and have all my life until recently, but have found myself delaying picking up the ereader. I will play just one more game of solitaire, watch another cute otter video, check my email - all as a delaying tactic. It suddenly dawned on me when I bought a Kobo Clara as a backup to my Kobo Aura, that perhaps the Kobo has become my problem. I had thought of trying a Kindle, but suddenly realised that my iPad might be the way to go, and to use it for more than games and netflix.

Thanks for that. I will have to re-order all my priorities, and give serious consideration to it. However, as I have a MacBook and the iPad is less than two years old, I will have to do some doublespeak to convince myself. I should have thought of it before I got the Kobo Clara and saved my money on it, but then, it was the Clara that brought home my growing disenchantment with Kobo.

By the way, the deleted word was nothing at all nasty, and I had no idea Apple was so prudish - it simply meant I had a strong desire to have an AppleWatch.
