convert table to text

I would like to convert a table to text. Older suggestions don't work in the newer Pages. Any suggestions? I tried paste and match style into a text box, no luck.

I need to further revise this post to accommodate Pages v8.0.

  1. Select every cell that you want to convert from table to text. Select the first cell, press and hold the shift key, then select the last, bottom-right cell. Press ⌘-C to copy the selected table cells to the clipboard.
  2. Insert a Text box, click inside it, and triple-click to light up the default placeholder text. Then, ⌘-V to paste the tab separated cell values into the Text box.
  3. Select the Text box contents, and now you can copy/paste them into the Document body, where the individual cells will appear in tab separated rows and columns.
  4. Remove the Text box.
