Hello bgberard,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. I saw your post about your iPad, and I'm happy to help!

I understand the Roblox app seems to opening to a black screen. When this happens, are you able to force quit the app as shown in this resource? How to force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

"Force close an app

  1. On an iPhone X or later or an iPad with iOS 12, from the Home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause slightly in the middle of the screen. On an iPhone 8 or earlier, double-click the Home button to show your most recently used apps
  2. Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  3. Swipe up on the app's preview to close the app."

That step is a great starting point. If you find the issue persists, I recommend work through the rest of the steps found here to continue troubleshooting: If an app unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open

I hope this helps to get you up and running!

Have a great day.

Finally a chat has been opened for this. I have had the iPad mini 5 since the day it came out only to find out ROBLOX couldn’t be played. It keeps giving me a black screen. If you read it fast it says something about a compatibility issue and starts showing the devices that aren’t supported like the iPod touch first gen or iPhone 4 and other older Apple products. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I’ve tried backing up on my other iPad (ipad mini 3). Works fine on old one but not on iPad mini 5. Is it the hardware or does ROBLOX need an update. Please give an update....

It's not just the Mini 5 that's affected, this issue is also on the new iPad Air (2019) that was released; see https://www.reddit.com/r/roblox/comments/bcnefp/roblox_not_running_on_ipad_air_3/

I opened a ticket with Roblox on this (for the Mini 5, as I have two of them doing the same thing), and they confirmed the issue as of 3/31/19, but still none of the updates since then has helped. Their response seemed like a standard / form response (so I'm not confident that anything is actually being done):

Thank you for providing us the requested information. Our team is aware of this issue and currently working to ensure it's resolved. Please continue to watch for further updates, as we are always working to improve the Roblox experience and resolve any current issues. We appreciate your patience.

To help get better visibility to this issue, I would recommend anyone else with this issue to open a bug report with Roblox at https://www.roblox.com/support

I have the same issue with the new IPAD MINI. Went through the same activity as other folks. Posted it to Roblox and eventually talked to a support person who told me they are aware of it and working on it. To watch blog site for some reason. Wish Roblox had a support tracking feature so you can periodically check and/or they update us all via email when the fix is out.

I suspect it is a graphic software call issue with the new ipad graphical hardware. Remember this mini ipad has a new pencil functionality and better graphics. So I suspect they will support it later in the year with enough people complaining about it. My daughter is using her legacy ipad mini 2 which is running a lot faster after I reset it of course. Now working on Apple letting me keep the old ipad until Roblox fix it and/or take a $180 ding. Amazed Roblox developer community were not ahead of this issue. I guess it is a reactionary community and/or Apple are hiding something from them.

Its a Roblox issue and I suspect it is related to the new graphical hardware on the new mini's. Hopefully Apple are helping Roblox out as the kids can easily use other non-apple ipad products to run this game they love so much. I suspect the audience is in the millions and there are quite a few angry parents. I have the legacy mini 2 for my daughter to leverage until Roblox and Apple sort this out. Amazed Roblox and Apple did not proactively check this ahead of time.
