Remap Program Change Buttons

I have an M-Audio Midair 37 wireless MIDI controller (basically a wireless three-octave Oxygen 8) that I've mad scientist-ed into a keytar. It has +/- buttons for program changes that send sequential prog change numbers, which for my purposes isn't useful.

I want to re-assign the buttons to simply increment and decrement the current patch number in Mainstage. I can see them sending program change #'s in Mainstage's top window, but when I create a custom button in the layout window and put it into learn mode, they do not register. I'm guessing this is b/c they're aren't considered to be actual "MIDI controllers."

I already checked the MidAir owner's manual to see if they can be reconfigured to send another type of data, but doesn't look good. Anyone have any idea how I can remap these?

I don’t think what you’re asking is possible to do in MainStage because of the correct statement you made regarding the MIDI data being transmitted by those buttons: “they aren’t considered to be MIDI controllers.” However, there may be a way to convert this data using Plogue Bidule or BOME MIDI Translator.

I don’t have the time to look into this for you but hopefully someone else may be able to help you solve it. It’s an interesting situation and a successful resolution could be very handy for other users.

Thank you for taking the time to get back to me.

Because the MidAir doesn't have any MIDI CC buttons, I'm gonna try to assign a slider to fire off the particular prog change# I need. It's sort of a wonky way to do it, but I just need to make one prog change occur immediately following a live solo (b/c I won't have time to get back to my normal keyboard rig following my triumphant/ridiculous keytar solo).

Is it just the one PC you need to do? I realise that you’d probably prefer to have the increment/decrement scenario but if it’s just a single PC that’s an issue, you could set up a PC using a MIDI note that’s out of your normal playing range. Then you could just got that note on your keytar after the solo.
