How to get rid of ellipses (three dots) in file names on Mojave?

Hello, this is something driving me crazy on Mojave, which didn't happen until recently for some reason. I don't want to see three dots (an ellipses) replace valuable text information. My file names on the desktop are often undecipherable because they look like this:


I already have "show all filename extension" unchecked in Finder prefs, but for some reason it still how's filename extensions. So how do I show more of the filename instead of three dots? Thank you.

beside the file type, mp3 apparently is included in the longer file name.
