Changing Photo Filename Sequence on iPad?

I own an iPhone and an iPad. They both use the same Apple ID. I backup my photos to a PC using iCloud. The problem I face is that the iPhone and iPad will have different photos with identical filenames. Is there a way to change the file name sequence on an Apple device? Or does anyone have a suggestion for how to deal with the issue of the iPhone and iPad using the same filenames for photos? I do not want to rename files after the fact, since this increases the likelihood of having duplicate files with different names.

The iPhone and the iPad do not have an option to change the camera specific part of the filename "IMG", if you are using the standard Camera.app that comes with iOS. Perhaps one of the many third-party camera.apps will use a different file naming scheme, but I have not tested any of them.
