Alternate (not cycle) between the Windows of the same application

I was looking for a way to alternate between the windows of the same application. On doing some search, I found out that Cmd+` is the option that most people recommend (I am aware that this does not work between different workspaces).

But this is not what I was looking for. Cmd+` merely cycles through all the windows of the same application unlike the Cmd+Tab like behaviour which alternates between applications.

Is there any way of Alternate between the windows of the same application.
