Apple Watch Storage Issue

There are currently zero songs downloaded on my apple watch but it still says under "usage" settings that music is occupying 3.1 GB of storage on the watch. The storage is full and I would like to be able to update the watch but cannot until space is available.

My best guess is that some previously streamed / cached content is taking up space.

Have you tried unpairing the Watch and then re-pairing it with your iPhone? This will clean out everything and you should be able to update your WatchOS at that point. Your Apple Watch data is kept safe on your iPhone itself so all your health data, etc. will be restored when you re-pair.
