Black screen and vertical lines at random

So the issue comes and goes. Brand new macbook pro (2018) only had it for a few months. Black screen will just happen out of nowhere and colored vertical lines appear on the screen. It seems I can still play/pause videos and use the computer but the display doesn’t change from the black screen and vertical lines unless I close the laptop and sign in again but at times it shows display fine for a few seconds then reverts back to the black screen... I’m not sure if its software or hardware related but its frustrating that this is happening on a brand new laptop. Any help is much appreciated!
