mojave screensaver locks up always at 10:00 PM

I set up ANY screensaver with the clock displayed. Screensaver activates and exits normally all day long. But, when the clock displays 10:00 PM I cannot make the screensaver quit and return to the desktop using keypress, trackpad click, nor trackpad movement. I've only been able to get control of Retina MacBook Pro back by cycling the power. Mighty strange. Also I have reset the NVRAM to no effect .

Boot into Safe Mode, enable the Screensaver and let it go thru 10:00. Any difference. Then reboot normally and repeat test.

NOTE: Safe Mode boot can take up to 10 minutes as it's doing some system cache cleaning, volume verifying and directory repairing.
