I've been using microsoft excel on my mac for years. Now my recent worksheets are gone. Any suggestions on retrieving them?

Where are were they stored physically on your Mac?

Did you recently enable some iCloud feature?

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?
