My iPhone xs max fell into water and the screen is malfunctioning
iPhone XS
One of the features of the XsMAx is: Rated IP68 (maximum depth of 2 meters up to 30 minutes) under IEC standard 60529.
Based on the standard that is:
"The equipment is suitable for continuous immersion in water under conditions which shall be specified by the manufacturer. Normally, this will mean that the equipment is hermetically sealed. However, with certain types of equipment, it can mean that water can enter but only in such a manner that it produces no harmful effects."
Supposed to be water proof not water resistance. Off course they never update the warranty coverage, if what they advertised is true, they should cover water damage.
Make an appointment at the genius bar. You will have to pay for an out of warranty replacement.
Liquid damage is not covered by the warranty. The iPhone is not waterproof.
But IPhone X and IPhone XS max is waterproof
