I can't close a "verifying" core services UI agent window.

I downloaded an app, and there was nothing wrong with the process. However, now I have two little "Verifying" windows that won't go away. The only option is to minimize them. I'm not sure what to do.

Thank you so much for replying. The problem is I have since deleted (or so I assume) the application that triggered these two "verification" windows that now won't go away. The windows are just sort of hanging around in limbo. (I've attached a screenshot of my desktop.) Would I have to re-download the application in order to then square away these windows?

If you download an application outside of the Mac App Store, it needs to be first verified by Gatekeeper that it is a safe application. This one-time ritual involves right-clicking on the application, and choosing only Open. You will see a verification progress panel, and may be presented by another dialog with an Open button. Click that, and then from this point on, you can open the application in the normal manner without the verifying dialog.
