Can SONY HANDYCAM DCR-TRV10E work on a macbook?

As additional information, the DCR-TRV 10E is not listed on Apple's list of supported cameras.

However, that does not mean that it will not work. iMovie supports most tape based cameras even though not listed. Footnote No. 2 at the bottom of the list states: "iMovie works with most mini DV tape-based camcorders using DV and HDV formats. Use FireWire port for tape-based devices."

I would just add a caveat: Some posters on this forum have reported that the sound from Mini DV tape doesn't import. You might or might not have that problem with the particular recorder that you want to buy. Some people have no problem. Just thought that I would mention it. Also, make sure that the Mini DV tapes are still available before you buy.

Why would you want to use such an old device with it's out of date specs?

You'll need cable adapters to support the DV format but it will work just fine.
