How can I make the cloud calendar and iphone calender agree on time?

Hi. My friend has been entering his calendar events through his iphone.

We decided to try to enter them online through the cloud since its easier on a computer to do it.

However, no matter what we try, we cannot get the times to agree. It seems the online calender is 3 hours ahead.. i guess cupertino time. I've checked all the settings, and as far as I can see, everything is set for NYC eastern time both on the phone and in the cloud settings. The support settings are enabled.. Yet, if I enter an event time online in the online calendar, it shows the time as 3 hours earlier on the iphone. Its very frustrating. Thanks for any suggestions.

iPhone SE, iOS 12

Nevermind I fixed it. What happens is when you change the time zone from cupertino to eastern ny in the cloud settings, it doesn't always stick after you save it. I tried it on mine changing it to cupertino and then back to eastern and I noticed it reverted back to cupertino pacific by itself. Now I just made sure it sticks to ny eastern by refreshing and double checking and it works good on his phone (and mine). Thanks.
