Exporting in Final Cut Pro Takes Hours for Short Videos

Hi,

I have some videos which are shot in 1080p 60fps and are around 5-10 minutes in length. When I try to export these in the file format ‘Apple devices 1080p’ with h.264 faster encode on (the file size is only around 400mb-1gb), it takes several hours to export.

I have the video noise reduction effect on most of my videos. I experimented a bit and turned this effect off on one video and then it only took about 6 minutes to export but obviously the video looked a lot grainer. I then tried this exact method on another video but the export process was still incredibly slow for some reason.

My MacBook Pro 2017 2.5ghz i7 has 16gb ram so this seems enough for basic videos (there aren’t many animations in these videos and are quite basic)

I appreciate any help that can be given, thank you!

I recommend not using 60 fps as it is not necessary.

I personally use 24p, but you can also use the 29.97 setting, depending on where you output.

24 frames per second is enough to create smooth motion.

Are you a gamer? In video games high frame rates count as higher image quality. Not so in video. As soon as you have enough frames per second that the human perception no longer sees the gaps, you are fine.

Exceptions would be high speed objects like race cars or humming birds, where you'd likely want more frames to picture the motion better and have a reserve for slow motion clips.

Thanks for the short answer :-)

Unfortunately my old footage has really bad lighting and so that’s why I needed noise reduction but going forward, I’ll have to make sure there’s plenty of light to work with from the start

I’ve never edited videos before so was hoping there was a quick way of using noise reduction but unfortunately not
