Carplay giving wrong location

Hi I Just bought an Audi Q7 2018 and when I connect iPhone X to apple carplay and use the Google maps or any maps it gives me wrong directions after couple of mins. It works completely fine when iPhone X is not connected to carplay.

I found over the blogs that lot of other people also facing the same issues with different cars of make and model.

please address this at highest priority as we have paid for this feature in the car.

Thanks,

Tavi

Hi tavinderfromchicago,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand you're having trouble with navigation when you connect your iPhone with CarPlay. I also see that the navigation on your iPhone works correctly if you're not connected to CarPlay. I know how important it is to depend on accurate directions; I'd like to help. I'd recommend using the steps below to troubleshoot this behavior:

"Get help

If CarPlay doesn't work like you expect, make sure that your iPhone has the latest version of iOS. After your iPhone is updated, follow these steps—checking CarPlay after each step:

      1. If CarPlay doesn't activate automatically, look for the CarPlay logo on your car's display.
      2. Restart your iPhone and your car.
      3. Make sure that Siri is on.
      4. If your iPhone isn't detected by CarPlay, make sure that CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions, tap Allowed Apps and make sure that CarPlay is enabled.
      5. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, and tap Forget This Car.
      6. Check your connection:
      • If you have a wired connection, try connecting again with a different USB cable to a different USB port if you have one.
      • If you have a wireless connection, enable AirPlane Mode by going to Settings > Airplane Mode. Don't enable Airplane Mode from Control Center.
      • If needed, install firmware updates. Check your car's manual for more information.

If you still have issues connecting to CarPlay, contact Apple Support."

You are not addressing Apple here, this is a user to user support forum, and if you wish to have Apple address this, then you need to leave them feedback. That would go here, Feedback - iPhone - Apple

Also, when you are connecting to the vehicle, are you doing this with a USB cable? Is it a genuine Apple cable. I just used mine extensively this weekend in the Chicago area in a 2017 Hyundai with my iPhone XS with iOS 12.2 and it worked flawlessly. Have you discussed this with your Audi dealer?

Just A Thought:

Have you directly contacted Audi itself? Start with a Audi Customer Service chat session (For U.S. vehicle/market only) seems ideal.

Go Here: Audi Help & Support. Scroll to the bottom pane where it reads Contact Us, and you’ll see It has three methods of contact:

  • Phone
  • eMail
  • Online

At the very bottom of the Contact Us pane, is a direct link to AudiChat (For U.S. vehicle/market only).

Hi There - I have already tried these troubleshooting options along with other mentioned over the various blogs but nothing is working. Also realized that I am not the only one who is facing this issue with carplay, please have a look into other threads and you will realize other people complaining about the same thing with other car of different make and model.

I would appreciate if this can be addressed by apple ASAP considering all these cars equipped with carplay now days and this is not helping anyone.

Hi ChrisJ4203,

Thanks for the clarification, yes I am using the genuine apple USB cable. I haven;t checked with Audi dealer but after going through other threads I had realized this is an issue faced by lot of people with different make and model. Where they reported that working with dealer didn't help at all and problem still persist, I'll still check with the Audi dealer just in case they can not something to resolve this.

But meanwhile I am wondering if there is anyone who was facing this issue and was able to resolve this.

Thanks,

Tavi
