MacBook Pro Bottom part of the display’s pixels turns has fading black lines

A black bar suddenly appeared on the bottom part of my MacBook Pro 2017 13” display. The black bar was sort of a fading black color, I could still see texts trough the black bar. On the bottom of that black bar (the bottom edge of the screen), there were some sort of stuck pixels all across the display’s length (around one or two pixels thick). I tried shutting down and restarting the Mac, but the issue remained.

This morning (after the computer has been shut down and left off for a few hours) the black bar and the stuck pixels were gone completely. But that black bar slowly reappears as i was using the MacBook. It was able to disappear again after putting the display to sleep but the black bar always reappears.

Does this issue has any relation to the display cable or its contacts? The MacBook has never been exposed to heat or impacted in any way. It was well taken care of. Does anyone have a similar issue?

You have the so called « flex gate ». The cable connecting the screen to the chassis has been designed too short en gets used over time by opening and closing the computer. The problem has nothing to fo with software, it’s a design failure. If you are still under warranty you are fine, if not Apple will ask you around 600$/550€ to fix this. You can find more information on the web by typing « flexgate » in google search.

PS: I have the same problem with my MacBook Pro 2016 Touch Bar, I paid over 2800€ for a device that worked for two years and for which I already had to replace the « butterfly » keyboard.
