How do I get back my iTunes music?
My Time Machine backup failed.
I also had to erase and reformat my hard disk and re-install everything.
How do I get back my iTunes?

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device (or purchase history) - Apple Community. Your unhidden purchase history should be available to redownload. Songs that were ripped from CD would only be there if you had a subscription to iTunes Match or Apple Music.

That's what I thought!
Oh well...
When I put my LP's onto iTunes, I also put most of them onto CD's (why not indeed!)
So, I can recover many of the songs from the CD's.
I thank you for your reply, confirming what I suspected.
PS I will have to backup to my loyal thumb drive (iTunes Library.itl, is that sufficient?) in case my Time Machine Backup goes bad - again!
PPS Who would have thought a double whammy; Time Machine Backup HDD failure and then having to erase the and re-install everything on my iMac HDD because it wouldn't recognize the new disk to be used as the Time Machine Backup!
Thanks turingtest2...
You need to backup the whole iTunes folder, not just the .itl file. As well as all of your other important personal data. External hard drives are relatively cheap these days.
