"Your disk could not be partitioned" - boot camp assistant

I am running Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 10 and am hitting a road block with partitioning my disk. The error that I am receiving is "Your disk could not be partitioned - An error occurred while partitioning the disk. Please run Disk Utility to check and fix the error."

I have run disk utility several times, restarted several times, and I have tried just about every article that pops up on google. These included doing a command+s restart and using /sbin/fsck -fy with no luck, turning time machine off and running a command to delete some of the boot snapshots with no luck. I also tried manually partitioning the disk using Disk Utility and I receive an error about the container not having enough space, even though I have over 2 TB free. It seems to me like this is some kind of time machine issue. Does anyone have an idea of how I can fix this without completely reinstalling?

Thank you,

Brandon
