iasue is yahmaha reciver
it states supports Dolby vision but Apple TV goes back to 4K sdr but when bypassed Apple TV works as 4K Dolby vision direct to vision p65
not sure whey going through Yamaha fails?
any suggestions?

That could happen if one of the HDMI cables or ports in use in the chain isn’t certified for the needed bandwidth.
Check that your HDMI cables support 18 Gbps. “New” is not a specification.
Check that the used HDMI ports are HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 compatible.

I tried both cables by going from Apple to vizio and both supported Dolby vision
so that leaves the Yamaha
i also checked about mode1 in advanced setup
taking back to Best Buy yo upscale and see if that helps
