Why does my iphone XR keep beeping when I connect it to myMacBook Air using the USB port to transfer photos from the iPhone XR to my MacBook Air?

The iphone XR just keeps steady beeping as long as the cable is connected to my mac air.
what can i do to stop this (other than disconnecting the cable)
