Face Recognition, password failure

I had created a face recognition for my iPhone X and when I went to use it it had asked for the password I had made on my iPhone. I then went to use the same passcode I use on all my device and it says it was an invalid password. Unsure if this is a glitch in the iPhone or what is going on here. Bottom line I can not get into my iPhone after attempting to set up face recognition.
