Add a Canon printer driver not listed

Hello,

I have to add, in a Filemaker development, the page setup for a specific Canon printer.

Every printer has different printing area size, depending on the mechanics type of ink, brands, the sizes of the edges could be slightly different.

This document has to be very precise and I have to specify to print it on a Canon Image Runner 3320.

I downloaded the Canon driver, but how can I install the driver if I don't have the printer in my network?

The driver has a .ppd extension (CNADVC3320X1.PPD).

I try to put in Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Ressources/ but I can't select the driver.

There is no installation App with this driver.

iMac - MacOS 10.14.4

Thank you

Regards

Ben

Click on this link to the Canon website, https://www.canon.co.uk/support/products/imagerunner/ir3320i.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=macos%2010.14%20(mojave) make sure to select Mojave under Operating System, scroll down and click on the Download button. Once downloaded double click the .dmg file to open it. A Finder window will open with display of folders with corresponding Canon printer names, there is a Read Me at the bottom of the window, this will tell you how to install the correct driver for your printer and the location it should be placed. Scroll down the Read Me to the section Mac OS X 10.5 or later which will describe how to set the printer up in System Preferences.

Hello,

yes you are right, I opened the .gz file in my screenshot.

I tried first without opening them, but since I can't see the driver, I tried when they were open.

As I explain, I don't have this printer connected to my iMac.

I created a very precise layout in FileMaker and this program will be install on another computer (different building) where they have the Canon printer.

Every printer has a different print area size.

I need to print at the maximum possibility of this printer (has close to the edges has possible) and that's why I need to install this driver to my computer to get the right dimensions.

So just to confirm did you download the file from the link I provided. did you open the .dmg file by double clicking on it,

did you then read the Read Me, open your printers folder and move the .gz file to the location described in the Read Me. Did you then scroll down the Read Me to the section I mentioned and followed the instructions to add your printer to System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, the printer needs to be attached and on. did you restart the Mac. Can you show some screenshots please, first of the printer driver and its location, and of your System Preferences> Printers & Scanners preferences.
