Metal compatible NVIDIA card not working under Mojave because no web driver

I have a mid 2012 Mac Pro and an NVIDIA Geforce GTX960 running fine under High Sierra, and it states under System Information that this card is metal compatible, and gives a Metal version number. According to the instructions here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208898 this card should work in Mojave. All it needs is a web driver, and NVIDIA have said they're able to provide one but that it is up to Apple to approve their web drivers. Please refer to this for the whole sorry saga:

Thanks for your reply. According to statements on their website here and here, NVIDIA say they're ready and willing to release web drivers for Mojave, but that Apple still has to approve them. So the web drivers are apparently good to go, but Apple are holding up the works by not approving them. Since this has now been a year in the wings, it is possible that there may never be web drivers for NVIDIA metal compatible cards if Apple won't approve them for so far unstated reasons. It is also been suggested that there is historical animus between the two companies, however this should not impact negatively on customers of both, as in my case.

The top brass of these companies are making so much money, they don't have any empathy for the plight of the small business owner who has spent tens of thousands of pounds on their products, as I have, and are suddenly thrown under the bus. I have been a loyal Apple customer since the first Mac Plus, the first iPhone, the first iPod, and the first iPad, but this has really soured my view of Apple. Seems to me that Apple are willing to take the risk of losing a few million customers to the WIndows PC platform in return for getting even with NVIDIA. If it's really gotten that bad, then NVIDIA have nothing to lose. They should just go ahead and release the Mojave GPU web drivers anyway, since the PC market is already far bigger for them. Then, at least ONE of the two companies would then be seen to be doing the right thing by its customers.

This is the whole point. NVIDIA have stated they're willing and able to provide web drivers, but Apple won't approve them, presumably through historical animus - in the absence of other rational explanation. Drivers for the GTX960 and numerous other unlisted GPU have previously been created by NVIDIA , and work on all OS up to and including High Sierra.
