iPhone SE2 or equivalent

When will Apple start listening to customers and bring out an updated smaller handset - an SE2 or alternative?

I’m desperate to upgrade my phone but as someone who has small hands, I really don’t want a larger handset! I know so many people who don’t want to upgrade for the same reason.

Apple, please prove that you’re not some misogynistic club making gadgets for the boys and bring out a new smaller model.

Apple is not here. This is a user to user forum.

However, they did listen to customers. Sales of the smaller SE declined by 2018 to the point where it was no longer a profitable option for them and they chose to discontinue its production. https://www.statista.com/statistics/804398/us-iphone-sales-by-model/

Just because you need a smaller handset, does not mean enough people out there require a smaller handset, and as such would not be a profitable option for Apple to make.

It would seem more and more people prefer the larger handsets. I know most women around me use and love the larger Plus or Max sized iPhones.

So it has nothing to do with misogynistic practices. Just because you are a woman does not mean you cannot like a large handset.

And you know this how? Do you speak to Apple marketing managers, or the Hosts who manage this forum? Everyone who has responded to you is a Level 6 or higher, which means they have regular access to the Hosts online in private forums, and even get to meet with them periodically. So we have our information from reliable sources.

But even if you think the forum is the answer, as someone who visits almost daily, I haven't seen more than a half dozen requests for another small phone in the past several years. And you will notice that no other manufacturer has produced a small phone either. There just isn't market demand for one.

You should consider the iPhone 8, which my wife got to replace her 4S (same size as the SE). It's only slightly larger, and she preferred it to the tiny SE when she compared them side by side at the Apple store.

OTOH, there is always this-->https://www.wired.com/story/baby-phone/. Really cute!

I also suspect the OP has not reached the age when one's eyes expire. The larger screen means I don't absolutely have to pull out my reading glasses to use my phone.

When I sold phones, before the iPhones got larger, there were people who complained about the fact that Apple didn't make a larger phone.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

I would argue that the decline in sales of the SE in 2018 has more to do with the fact that it was/is an aging model, diminishing/battery power - rather than EVERYbody preferring larger models. I agree that many prefer the larger handset (including women!) but there’s still a market out there for many who don’t (including women with smaller hands!).

Anyway, I don’t really expect this to achieve anything. I just wanted to have my say. In the face of ever declining handset sales, I would hope Apple would want to consider feedback from all of their consumers, and while your experience is that everyone likes the larger phone, mine is the opposite!

No, really, they are not. If you want them to know your thoughts, use the feedback page:

Personally, I find it rather sexist that you should think that women only want small phones. I'm a woman and I love my iPhone 7+.
