Numbers failure to connect to iCloud

I am trying to edit a document and it is saying Numbers is not connecting to iCloud

Is there a way to correct this issue?

MacBook Pro 13", macOS 10.14

Have you checked your iCloud connection at System Preferences > iCloud? Make sure iCloud Drive is checked and that (behind the Options ... button) Number.app is also checked. And if it still doesn't work after that try signing out of iCloud and signing back in again.
