i partitioned my mac to "mac OS extended Journaled" about an hour and a half ago. almost straight after i started it froze but the mouse still moves. then i accidentally shut the lid. it now has a black screen and the "spinning beach ball".
i cannot find the serial no.
Edit: i have just found the box for the mac and am going to open a chat

thanks for your help. ended up creating a support chat as i found the serial number. this is what i was told to do and it fixed my problem.
