Doesn’t respond to mouse

The touchpad still works but the mouse hover doesn’t work and click or right click either freezes or doesn’t respond. I reset my MacBook Air and it works for 5 minutes and then gets stuck again. Please help. I downloaded the new OS the other day and I would assume it is determined to kill my Mac and make me get another one. Please help.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 10.15

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
