how to remove the remote disk

I have high sierra version 10.13.6 running on a macbook pro with a built in DVD player. According to https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203973

It states that if "If your Mac already has a built-in optical drive, or an external optical

drive connected, you won't see the Remote Disc feature appear in the

Finder or other apps." Yet I do see this icon in my finder.

I have also noticed several people posting on how to get rid of the "remote disk" with no answer.

Did you ctrl-click on it and choose Remove from Sidebar? Or, drag it out of the Sidebar?
