I have 2018 iMac with Mojave.. I have an external CD drive.. I just noticed when I hit Applications. there is a Remote Disc Icon? It was never there before I do not sharing of any kind, have no wifi or anything...Does it need to be there?

No, you can just drag it to the Trash. Nothing to worry about, I've seen this happen for no good reason.
