I have a 27" iMac running High Siera. I have a "remote disc" save and carry various files. In finder under "remote disc" the remote disc name(s) come and go. The disc name is listed and gives acces to the files contained on the remote. This does not always show. Why or what am I doing to cause this not to show.

No...All are awake.
The remote drive is attached by USB connection. The remote drive does not show up ubder "remote drive" in the finder list. It is there some time but goes away.
Any other suggestions?

Problem seems to be resolved.
I re-started the iMac a couple of times and the 'external disc name' listings under Finder>Remote Disc have re-appeared and are holding. I can access them and all their files and folders appear to be good. Looks like we are good to go.

Could be a few things, how is it connected? Ethernet, Wifi, USB, Firewire, Thunderbolt?
Is the drive going to sleep?
Is what it's connected to going to sleep?
