My keyboard 'freezes' when I'm doing typing like Mail. It comes back on in a few seconds, but can I fix this?

John Galt wrote a compressive procedure to Un-Install CleanMyMac, featured on this thread:
How do I remove Clean My Mac 3 from Mac b… - Apple Community
That 'Erase and Re-Install' Procedure is sometimes necessary after a major virus outbreak. Note the prominence of a Trusted Time Machine Backup in that procedure.
In my opinion, the full Re-Install is not warranted in your case unless you find additional damage which cannot be repaired otherwise. I suggest you use the CleanMyMac UnInstaller, delete the file mentioned, and leave it at that and see if you will end up needing more.
this is why you are having keyboard problems. something is eating up all your CPU cycles:
Major Issues:
Anything that appears on this list needs immediate attention.
Runaway process - A process is using a large percentage of your CPU.
Adware - Adware detected.
More than one antivirus app - This machine has multiple antivirus apps installed.
Antivirus apps: CleanMyMac and MalwareBytes
Un-Install CleanMyMac. It is no better at cleaning than random guessing, and sometimes removes parts of MacOS as well. You should Never use such junk. Filth is not a reason for slowness, and the Mac does not accumulate filth. There is no benefit to such cleaning, and the program is inept.
Adware:
Launchd: ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.MainSearch.plist
Executable: ~/Library/Application Support/com.MainSearch/MainSearch r
Reason: Adware pattern match
Launchd: /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.MainSearchDaemon.plist

You are not connecting your Backup drive often enough. This makes each backup take about half-a-day longer than necessary. Try to connect your backup drive every-other-day, at least.
Do you need dropbox running all the time? It takes a toll on your Mac because it spends all day trying to make sure all your dropbox files are up to date with all your Mac files. This punishes performance greatly, for a very small payback. If you remove dropbox from the automatic launch list, and use it only when needed, your computer will run much better.
Etrecehck should offer to remove some of the problems it finds, it you look through the details of its sub-reports while it is still open.
The other good tool for removing bad stuff is malwarebytes, which your report says is installed. Launch MakwareBytes, and it should help you with adware and malware.
Hooray! I finally found something! My MalwareByte app was out of date, so I upgraded the freebie version and scanned.
Found a bad actor and deleted it.
Still cannot find CleanMyMac -- altho the darned thing pops up frequently.
Fixed (I think!) the DropBox problem.
EtreCheck doesn't do anything for free except scan. Do you think it's worth the $$$?
Thanks for your patience!
Hi,
Try to run Apple Diagnostics if it reports anything wrong.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731
Is this correct? It shows some 'major' problems and some 'minor'. Any of this explain the freezing keyboard?
Yes, copy and paste. Etrecheck contains instructions to 'share' and copy its final report to the clipboard. Then click the Additional text Icon here. Then paste:
.
Didnt work. How abut Etre Check?
Yes, DO run Etrecheck and use the "Additional text" Icon on the forums to post the entire report.
Not sure I can do that. Copy and paste?
This is way beyond me! I have no idea where to begin. Should I take it to an Apple Store??
Yes I've tried that 'fix' before, and none of it works on this Mac. Sorry!
However, I've not had the freezing keyboard, so I'll leave well enuf alone.
Thanks VERY much!
