GarageBand's snap to grid menu choice disappeared! Literally. I go to the Edit menu and suddenly—after seeing it there moments before—gone! It may have happened when (because?) I was double checking that the keyboard shortcut for it (COMMAND-G) had worked. Restart of GB and then of MacBook Pro did not bring it back. What.

posting the entire window would have made this easier, but most likely you have the Editor Pane open and nothing selected (note the blue outline around the editor):
click a track header in the timeline (again, note the blue outline around the timeline):
