I'm copying a large number of files from 1 external hard drive to another external hard drive. Each copied file has a clock or pie chart icon next to it. Why? Are these files not really copied?

Apple used to have a Doc in this, but I guess it's gone, they are copying...
Pie chart: The pie chart status icon gradually increases from clear to dark as the files are transferred.
The same pie chart can also appear next to iCloud Drive in the sidebar, where it indicates the overall progress for files transferring to and from iCloud Drive.
Note: Even if the iCloud Status column is not in the Finder window, you can still see the status for most iCloud file transfers next to the folder or file name. The only icon you won’t see is for downloaded items.
Does the clock ever disappear? The clock could be showing the progress of the copy operation.
It hasn't yet. It was thousands of files. The copy dialog box disappeared and I thought everything was copied. The files are eligible to be opened yet they all have a grayed out clock next to them.
Thank you for considering my problem. I'm afraid that I'm a computer yahoo. I'm not sure if they would eventually disappear or not. They looked like they copied. Was I too impatient? Should I keep everything plugged in and wait? I could do it overnight.
Yes let it go, we rarely get notice of what is happening in OSX.
But not sure why the Dialog closed & we still see Greyed out clocks! Are these on the internal or external drive?
It is all external drives. BTW, I redid it overnight and the clock icons are gone. Than ks for your help.
