iCloud Photos don't upload to my MacBook

I understand that there are issues with uploading my pictures from my iPhone to my macbook , it has always been sluggish and need to restart the computer and iPhone a few times ,make sure the power save is not on BUT i was able to do it prior to the latest firmware update. it is unbelievable that a simple feature is not up to APPLE standard. This is not a new feature it should be flawless by now...

It is really slowing down my productivity at work , I usually take pictures on my iPhone and edit them on my MacBook but this is making me reconsider using a Mac for work...
