Callers can't hear me

I bought a new iPhone xr and getting complaints from callers (& who I call) that they can't hear me. My voice goes in and out and they hear only half of what I'm saying. (I hear them just fine) I was told I may need a reset at the store where I bought it but I'm wondering if there's something I can do with my settings that I might have missed.
