What is this App?

This appeared in the dock on my iMac after I had installed Mohave. It actually specifically appeared after I opened Safari and opened a new tab. SEE PIC ATTACHED.

Can anyone tell me more about what it is or may be...

It says NameSync above it when I hover over it.

I don't want to open it unknowingly as I had a problem the other day with a darned flash update installing some wacky malware that messed up Safari until I could delete it.

Thanks in advance

If you suspect you have installed adware/malware. Try running this trusted utility https://www.malwarebytes.com/mac/

I just spent 2.5 hours on the phone with apple support. Remove the namesync app from your computer, then go to system preferences, network, highlight WiFi network, select advanced and then proxies. Make sure none of the proxies are selected. In my case the SOCKS proxy was selected. Once I unselected the SOCKS proxy it corrected my problem. Once you are done make sure you apply the settings then download Malwarebytes and run a scan to make sure all is well.

The guys were wrong.

It is true that you should not have antivirus running on your mac.

Malwarebytes is a legitimate application that can eliminate most of the adware - which is a different sort of malware that relies on social engineering tricks to fool the user into installing ****.

Yes, a clean install will get rid of it too. But it is probably overkill unless your system is severely borked - and that does actually happen as the result of people installing some “antivirus” that are worse than the threats they claim to protect you from...

Does nobody recognise this Namesync App? Even google is not helping on this one...

Looks like it could be an extension /plug-in for a browser:

keyboard_arrow_right Install NameSync

NameSync allows for the name, email, and subject fields to be used on boards where these are disabled.

Boards affected: /b/, /soc/, /s4s/, /trash/

Make sure you fill in the fields in the NS settings window, and not in the Quick Reply fields.

Chrome: Install (or use the Extension)

Firefox: Install

Suit your self—you came here because the apple store did not help you. That Namesync App followed you, it is not a native Mojave app.

To get a good look at your System config. for conflicts or issues or inadvertent installations, you can run this utility http://etrecheck.com

If you need help interpreting the report you can post it here in its entirety in the "Additional Text" box in the toolbar below.

Something like this happened to me too. My Mac was charging and I booted it up and it (NameSync) automatically appeared on my dock and it was asking me something and I couldn't even move my mouse.

I suggest you start your own thread and provide your system and issue details. "Something like this" provides no information for us to start to help you. "My Mac tells us nothing about the model/year computer nor what operating system you are running.

Start you own thread and provide some details.
