AppleTV App Ignores Episode Number Tags on Locally Stored Items

There are a number of shows, especially my kids' cartoons, that released some seasons in multiple "Volumes", with the first and second half of the season being sold separately. After downloading, I therefore edited the Season and Episode number tags to reflect their accurate placement, so that a complete season is listed with proper season and episode number so they can be watched in order.

When accessing these episodes on the AppleTV app on an iPad using Home Sharing to my server, I find that while the episodes are in the correct season, they use the Episode Number tags from the original download. As a result, there are two Episode 1s, two Episode 2s, etc, and the season is all mixed up. Even worse, shows that I added to the library from other sources all show up as Episode 1.

Is Apple now going to make a habit of ignoring my set information in favor of theirs?
