passcode

When I turn the Ipad on it says I have to enter my passcode. I have never set a passcode for this ipad. Everytime I try something I get locked out for an hour. This Ipad belongs to my 6 year old, and I can't figure out what she's done. It won't let me get to the home screen at all.
