MacBook Air battery drain? (running Mojave)

I have a fairly standard 2017 MacBook Air. After installation of MacOS update 10.14.4 the battery drains really quick: battery life has been reduced from approx. 10 hours to something like 2 hours. I had hoped that update 10.14.5 would supply a fix for this problem, but unfortunately this doesn't seem to be the case. Does anyone out there have a suggestion for a fix for this issue?

Thanks, Peter

There are a few articles from Support that are good to know; specific

to issues of performance, battery runtime, temperature, fans, & etc.

And about batteries with a bunch of other related Support articles linked within.

And even more; however, these may of immediate purpose to learn about the details.

Typically, immediately after an update, there is some background "cleanup" processing that goes on that will take up additional CPU processing ... thus battery. However, this should conclude within a day or two depending on how long you use your notebook each of those days.

If you are beyond this time frame there may be something else that is using up the CPU that could be causing this. I suggest you start with running Activity Monitor and look to see what process or process are doing so.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I'v checked out the activity monitor (Since the last major update has been over 2 days ago) and find that the battery depletes rapidly even without usage. However, I find that even without active programs the user (me) uses more than 25% CPU, of which I can find no evidence in the process-overview. Do you have any clue as to what is going on in such a case?
